Tom Slot is a playwright, actor, director, and theater educator. Recent productions of his original plays and musicals include Dream 70 (Mary Lou Meese Theater / March – April 2017), Searching For Connection (The Paradise Factory / May – June 2015), Graceless (Planet Connections Festivity / May - June 2014 and Capital Fringe Festival July 2015), Sticking Up For Pluto (Playwrights on Parade Festival Charlotte, North Carolina – Dec 2014), The Girls of Ward 3 (QSI Theater / May 2014), My Father’s Ashes (Theater 54 / Feb - March 2014), Farewell To Sanity (Gene Frankel Theater / June 2013), Killing Time (Payan Theater / July 2012 - Finalist for the 2012 Princess Grace Playwriting Fellowship), and Small Group (Articulate Theatre / April 2017). His one act play Reimagining Oedipus is published in the anthology Freshwater Goes Back to High School and several of his full length works are published on Indie Theater Now. His play, The Girls of Ward 3, received the Excellence in Playwriting Award in the 2015 Newborn Festival. Memorable acting roles include Sebastian (The Tempest / Folkwant Academy International Shakespeare Festival, Essen Germany); and Nikos (Big Love / Setkani Encounter Festival, Brno, Czech Republic). Recent directing credits include: Queen Lear, Twelve Angry Jurors, and All Shook Up at the Mary Lou Meese Theater, Macbeth at the Theater at the 14th Street Y, My Father’s Ashes at Theater 54, Variations On A Cat Call at the Bridge Theater, and Farewell To Sanity at the Gene Frankel. Tom earned his MFA in Acting from Columbia University studying under Andrei Serban, Kristin Linklater, and Ann Bogart. Tom has taught acting at Teacher College at Columbia University and Queens College. He also served as the artistic director for Original Binding Productions for several years. Tom currently runs the drama program at Fox Lane High School and spends his free time with his lovely wife Jessica, their son Jamie, and their two dogs. Find out more at www.tomslot.com.
