HELEN ABELL has been on stage for the majority of her life. A SAG-AFTRA, New York City based Actor, she was born in Knoxville, TN and raised in South Florida. She began dancing at the age of 3, started working as an actor in 1996 and has worked in everything from Children’s Theatre, Regional Theatre and Off-Off Broadway to Film and Television. She studied at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for two years and graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of West Florida.

After college she continued her training in Atlanta for several years before moving to NYC. She is an alumna and a member of the Faculty and Staff at T. Schreiber Studio. Helen is also the creator and owner of The Actor’s Light Professional Audition Taping service, which she started in 2011. (www.theactorslight.com)

Helen can be seen in Season 3 of ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK as Pennsatucky’s mama, Debbie Doggett. She is currently working on the Indie Thriller DON’T KILL THE MESSENGER. It is with great pride that she joins this wonderfully creative group of Artists in the Articulate Theatre Company.
