Articulating the Arts

Articulating the Arts is Articulate Theatre Company's signature benefit event. It brings together our ensemble members and guest artists with unique works of art to use as a springboard and source of inspiration for new theatre works. Our first session in March 2014, with the theme of "A Thousand Words" was a huge success. Audience comments cited the "smart and nuanced writing," the "wonderfully curated" arc of the evening's  presentation, and how much the professional production values added to the stories. This inspired us to make this a recurring event. Our second session took place in September 2014, with the theme "Off the Wall" and in February of 2016 we tackled American folk music in "Folk City Scenes." "Tales in Time" took us on an inspired journey through children's folklore from around the world. You can learn more about all the AtAs by following the links below!

Our next Articulating the Arts will be inspired by PROTEST ART, such as Banksy and Picasso! To be kept in the loop about that production, sign up for our mailing list by clicking here.

ARTICULATING THE ARTS:
The Art of Protest

We've taken samples of the most evocative, relevant, inspirational and effective images of protest art and shared them with our company playwrights (and some guest playwrights) and asked them to create new plays from that inspiration.

Articulating the Arts:
Tales in Time

Articulating the Arts is Articulate Theatre Company's signature benefit event. Our first installment focused on playwrights taking "one image" and giving us "a thousand words." The second one took the images "Off The Wall" and put them on the stage! Our third AtA, we moved from the visual arts to the musical arts, specifically folk music!

Now we are taking a look at the intersection of story telling - where oral traditions meet the written word -
folklore of the world!

The foundation of Articulating the Arts is deriving inspiration for plays from works of arts from other disciplines. Our Company members and guest artists review unique works of art to use as a springboard and source of inspiration for new theatrical works. The source this season is folk music of the 60s & 70s.

TADA! Youth Theatre
The foundation of Articulating the Arts is deriving inspiration from works of arts from other disciplines. The theme of "Off the Wall" takes the spark of an idea from a painting and takes it off the wall and onto the stage. We hope you will enjoy the result!

For this session, Articulating the Arts:
A Thousand Words
,
our playwrights are reacting to classical paintings. They took the "one picture" and reacted with their "thousand words." The result is something we're very proud of! Company members - playwrights, actors, directors, designers - are featured in these whirlwind episodes. You can see details by clicking on the buttons below.
