Why May 1st? The first of May represents both the celebration of Spring and the honoring of activists who have changed our world. We think it's the perfect time to come together for some fun and some fundraising! |

Q: What is this about? A: Articulating the Arts
Articulating the Arts is Articulate Theatre Company's signature benefit event. It brings together our ensemble members and guest artists with works of art from other disciplines to use as a springboard for new theatre works.
Our first session focused on playwrights taking an image and giving us "A Thousand Words." The second session took the images "Off The Wall" and put them on the stage. For our third AtA, Folk City Scenes, we decided to move from the visual arts to the musical arts, specifically folk music of the 60s and 70s, and our most recent AtA was "Tales In Time," new plays inspired from children's folklore from around the world.
Our next Articulating the Arts (as yet unnamed) is a highly topical one - we're going to take samples of the most evocative, relevant, inspirational and effective images of protest art and share them with our company playwrights (and some guest playwrights) and ask them to create new plays from that inspiration. Maybe it's about the making of the art, maybe it's about the cause the art is addressing, maybe it's about the artists themselves, and maybe it's none of those things at all. Art begets art, but you never know what your "child" will look like!

The event is over, but the need is still there. Without your help, our next show may never happen. The budget needed for even a "frugal" show keeps getting bigger and bigger, as we face rising rehearsal and venue prices.
