Articulating the Arts is Articulate's signature benefit event. It brings together our ensemble members and guest artists with unique works of art to use as a springboard and source of inspiration for new theatre works. Our first session in March 2014, with the theme of "A Thousand Words" was a huge success. Audience comments cited the "smart and nuanced writing," the "wonderfully curated" arc of the evening's presentation, and how much the professional production values added to the stories. This inspired us to make this a recurring event. Our second session took place in September 2014, with the theme "Off the Wall" and in February of 2016 we tackled American folk music in "Folk City Scenes." "Tales in Time" took us on an inspired journey through children's folklore from around the world, and "The Art of Protest" reminded us of the valuable role artists, from Picasso to Banksy, play in activism.

Articulating the Arts:
the art of protest
TADA! Theatre
We've taken samples of the most evocative, relevant, inspiration and effective images of protest art and shared them with our playwrights, and asked them to create new plays from that inspiration. Watching our artists react to the call to activism from past artists might just inspire you, too!

Off The Wall
TADA! Youth Theatre
The foundation of Articulating the Arts is deriving inspiration from works of arts from other disciplines. The theme of "Off the Wall" takes the spark of an idea from a painting and takes it off the wall and onto the stage. We hope you will enjoy the result! A Thousand Words
Theatrelab
The foundation of Articulating the Arts is deriving inspiration from works of arts from other disciplines. For this session, Articulating the Arts: A Thousand Words, our playwrights are reacting to classical paintings. They took the "one picture" and reacted with their "thousand words." The result is something we're very proud of! Company members - playwrights, actors, directors, designers - are featured in these whirlwind episodes.
