Our Sonnet Video
The New York Shakespeare Exchange are the producers of, and masterminds behind, The Sonnet Project. They have commissioned short films to be made from each of William Shakespeare's sonnets. Here's a little explanation about the project: The Sonnet Project is a massive multi-artist, internet-based interpretation of
Shakespeare's sonnets. Each film will be shot on location at a
unique NYC place. From the iconic to the ephemeral, the locations will
put the poetry of NYC into direct contact with the poetry of The Bard. You can read more about how the project was created, what the purpose is, and how it has evolved into something extraordinary by visiting their website. You can also check out their app which brings each new video straight to you!
Articulate learned about the project and asked to be involved. We're huge fans of the Bard and the wonderful folks at NYSX, so it seemed like a fun idea. We asked to do Sonnet 100, and they gave us the Brooklyn Public Library as our New York City location. We had a great time putting it together! It's also a great way of testing out the waters of video as a story-telling resource for us in the future. The project was so successful that we're already planning on producing our own short in the near future. We're very proud of our Sonnet video, but you can judge it for yourself by visiting the website by clicking on the button below.

Sonnet 100:
Where art thou, Muse, that thou forget'st so long to speak of that which gives thee all thy might?
Where art thou, Muse, that thou forget'st so long to speak of that which gives thee all thy might?
Spend'st thou thy fury on some worthless song, Darkening thy power to lend base subjects light?
Return, forgetful Muse, and straight redeem In gentle numbers time so idly spent;
Sing to the ear that doth thy lays esteem And gives thy pen both skill and argument.
Rise, restive Muse, my love's sweet face survey, If Time have any wrinkle graven there;
If any, be a satire to decay, And make Time's spoils despised every where.
Give my love fame faster than Time wastes life; So thou prevent'st his scythe and crooked knife.

Although we kept this test project on the lean and mean side, several ATC members jumped on board to make sure the film wasn't just 'done,' but done extremely well. We are grateful to them for their time and talents.

ATC owes a debt of gratitude to the following individuals who, although not company members, jumped in to lend their talents due to their great love of story-telling and Shakespeare.
Director of Photography: Andre Yoder-Harris Music: Richard Einhorn Text Coach: Cristina Lundy And of course, none of this would have happened without The New York Shakespeare Exchange and The Sonnet Project! Wonderful people doing a wonderful work. |
