Articulating the Arts:
Tales in Time

Articulating the Arts is Articulate Theatre Company's signature benefit event. It brings together our Company members and guest artists with unique works of art to use as a springboard and source of inspiration for new theatre works. Our first installment focused on playwrights taking "one image" and giving us "a thousand words." The second one took the images "Off The Wall" and put them on the stage! Our third AtA, we moved from the visual arts to the musical arts, specifically folk music!
Now we are taking a look at the
intersection of storytelling
-where oral traditions meet the written word-
folklore of the world!
April 24-27, 2017
@ T. Schreiber Studio

151 W. 26th St, 7th Floor NY

AtA: Tales in Time was a wonderful success, with a completely sold out run. The panel discussion with Douglas Carter Beane, Regina Ress and Ken Davenport was enlightening and entertaining as well!

Plays Inspired by World Folklore

Here's how it works:
  • ATC members select the discipline/category that they wish to work with - in the past we've used classical paintings and music - this time it's World Folklore, including fables, fairytales, myths and legends from around the globe.
  • Then we share the stories with our member playwrights, as well as guest playwrights. These playwrights submit short (8-10 minute) plays inspired by these selected stories.
  • Our reading committee goes to work reviewing the submissions, and selects the top plays.
  • These nine plays are shared with every member of our company, including our directors and designers, and cast with members from our acting ensemble.
  • On April 24-27, 2017, we bring the plays to our audience!
